Effective water sterilisation using silver ions
Silver ions penetrate bacteria cells and couple immediately onto vital enzymes. Disabled in this way, the cells die immediately. Trials in a certified laboratory have proven the effectiveness of this method. Untreated water subject to measurement after 4 days returned a value of 1’600 CFU/ml; treated water returned values of only 2 CFU/ml.
Silver ions remain effective even after many years of use. Water always has constituents which react with silver ions to form insoluble silver salts. These salts lead to a kind of storage effect in that once they are deposited on the walls of the water system they continuously release silver ions into the water. If the water treatment system is inactive for a longer period of time, these ions have a disinfecting effect.
